Powerslide Teams 2009 We wanted to introduce the Powerslide athletes of our 2009 teams step by step and started to announce Yann Guyader and Cecilia beana in our last newsletter. Well, the two magazines in Germany and France will release the next issue very soon and also some speed related internet websites want to spread the latest news about the teams 2009. This forces us to release the names of our teams earlier than planed, but most of them can be found in certain chat rooms anyway. Well here we go to introduce the Powerslide teams for 2009.
Powerslide World Men/Woman
We have been able to continue to work with almost the entire team that won the WIC teamranking in 2008. The two world champions Yann Guyader (FRA) and Fabio Francolini (ITA) go into the third year with Powerslide. Fabios countrymen Elio Cuncu and Matteo Amabili also renewed their contracts. The colombian skater and world champion Andres Munoz from the former Matter world team will replace Steffano Galliazzo. The first Powerslide women world team has been set up and is ready to rumble. The worlds best female skater Cecilia Baena (COL) will be accompanied by Giovanna Turciarelli (ITA), Nathalie Barbotin (FRA) and a big surprise Jana Gegner (GER, picture left). Sabine Berg was announced in some chat rooms already, but the young super talent will finish her highschool this year and wants to concentrate on certain races only. She is young and will get the time from us to develop step by step.
Powerslide Phuzion World Men
The Powerslide Phuzion world team had a furious start into their first WIC season finishing 5th in the team ranking 2008. The team spirit was great throughout the season and we decided to keep the team almost unchanged. Only “old men” Pascal Briand, who was a big help for the young guns in their first year will leave and will be replaced by junior world champion Christian Diaz Grando from Colombia. Thanks again to Pascal for the great teamwork! Powerslide will keep in touch with Pascal by supporting his new dutch team. The two german top athletes Pascal Ramali and Felix Rijhnen, Kwinten Tas (BEL, picture left) and Nicolas Zamudio “Zamu” (COL), who just missed a top 10 ranking in the WIC 2008 will complete the world team. Martin Matyk (GER) also continues with Powerslide in his 7th year now (!) concentrating on the german race serieses as well as the European and World Championships.
Powerslide Phuzion woman
European Champion and silver medallist at Worlds Sabine Berg (picture left) is the front figure of the team, but will focus on her high school diploma 2009 as mentioned. She wants to concentrate her power on certain highlights such as the World Games, World Championships or European Championships as well as certain track races. Sandra Wieduwilt will start her comeback in 2009 again. Lisa Kaluzni, also european champion in the team relay will be the third girl who will represent Powerslide in the german race serieses like the GBC or GIC. Junior world champion and jr. european champion Mereike Thum (ERSG Darmstadt / Destination Team) and Katharina Rumpus (silver at jr European Championships) will complete the team.
